Changes I suggested for the Final cut

Image
  1. Transitions; I asked aiman if she can add few more transition, i understand the nature of our music video, it is a soft song with no high beat faced paced parts so soft subtle transitions would suit it more. 2. Color grading; for flashback scenes I suggested that a more yellowish, pinkish tones in colour grading would enhance the nostalgic effect and  will suit our music video. 3 Adding other clips: There were few other scenes that we shot and are not in the first rough cut, I asked Aiman to add more clips as it would give a more montage kind of look making the music video realistic. 4 The Establishig scene; the establishing scene of  the MV(Music video) was too long and basic, I suggested it would be better if we add few more clips  in it.

Realese Strategy

Image
Our release strategy involves putting posters on the social media page few days before the release. Like the release date of our music video  was 10th March so we released  the posters on our social media 1 week prior .This would make the artist's fans to mark their calendars for the release music video. Then we  will release other posts like bts pictures, artist's solo pictures to  attract the audience and keep them hooked just three days before the release we will add the teasers.  and finally the music video will be posted in the bio of the Instagram page on 10th march

Changes (planned vs actually done)

Image
Firstly our plan was to  show both girls watching lover's spit on the phone, but as it was repetition of the calling on phone scene scene so we decided to make them watch movie on the  tv. The reason we didn't play lover spit instead of the film was the lyrics might be misguiding to the audience.  Secondly we added few scenes like; girls doing makeup, putting pictures on the wall, enjoying their time on balcony and reading their journals ,the purpose was to add more essence of nostalgia. We had planned  to show the friends playing board games but they were replaced with the other added  scenes .

Discarding extra footage

Image
As a team Aiman and I drafted the first  rough cut and decided to see the leftover clips, if they could be incorporated or not. few clips generally looked irrelevant with the music video, however the others were good also matching the ambience but we couldn't add them in the video for other issues like; exposure ,stability etc. I really liked this clip giving a nostalgic feel but we had to discard it because of the shakiness it had. And we collectively decided on face call the effects we want for the final cut.

First rough cut

First Rough cut This is the first rough cut we made and is appreciated by our teacher. Although we still have to work on the transitions and I think the start is a bit off.  Furthermore I asked Aiman to add few more clips like playing with the cat and don't discard those cute clips. For color grading I asked Aiman ko color grade the flashbacks in a more pink and yellowish tones. This was my feedbaback over the first rough cut.

My role in Editing

Image
Aiman was responsible for editing but as a producer it was mainly my job, to decide it with Aiman that how the scenes would be sequenced. We had a video call where we decided the sequence.  After watching the footage we decided that a video will go side by side, giving a cute nostalgic somber effect. This would make the audience emphasized with the artist-Haya. I loved this scene and asked Aiman definitely to incorporate this, the way light is diverging on the camera lense makes it so aesthetically pleasing. Aiman decided how this scene can be incorporated in flashbacks giving the music video a nostalgic touch.

Challenges Encountered During the Shoot

Image
The first problem we faced during the shoot was keeping the camera steady because we didn't have a stabilizer. Since we were using a DSLR, it was tough to get stable shots. I solved it by mounting the camera on a stand and holding it steady. For a 360-degree rotating shot in red light, we used a child walker, which was a creative and useful idea that turned out great. It taught us to think creatively and find solutions outside the box. Finding the perfect spot for a bokeh effect during the golden hour shoot was also challenging because winter days mean the sun sets early. But we learned to work quickly and efficiently to get the job done.

Shoot Day 2

Image
Today was shoot day 2 of our music video. We mostly shot flashback scenes in Haya's house (Aiman's apartment), and few out door shots of performance. These were the outdoor  performance shots for the music video. This scene was the most hardest to shoot because of the lightening and the angle, I had to shoot it sitting on the bed bending down for the POV shot, it was hard but turned out to be really good.
