Practicing Planned shots

This was a 360-degree rotating shot that we planned to use in our music video it gives us a more artistic touch and with the use of proper types of equipment like a gimble etc. a more stabilized shot can be shot. The establishing shot  of Ribs we are planning to be is like this one on our music video

Practicing music video shooting ( Lipsync + Performance)

This is the first performance video I shot and completely edited and directed it myself. I chose Lana del ray's Radio as the girl who volunteered to shoot it with me matched her aesthetic so well. I planned a few movement shots and a series of close-ups, dollying in, zoom outs, etc I shot an amazing small performance clip. While editing this video on cap cut I used multiple filters and explored its amazing effects. These practices are making me more and more skilled for my final music video.

Song Analysis

Lyrics The drink you spilt all over me "Lover's Spit" left on repeat My mom and dad let me stay home It drives you crazy getting old We can talk it so good We can make it so divine We can talk it good How you wish it would be all the time The drink you spilt all over me "Lover's Spit" left on repeat My mom and dad let me stay home It drives you crazy getting old The drink you spilt all over me "Lover's Spit" left on repeat My mom and dad let me stay home It drives you crazy getting old This dream isn't feeling sweet We're reeling through the midnight streets And I've never felt more alone It feels so scary getting old We can talk it so good We can make it so divine We can talk it good How you wish it would be all the time This dream isn't feeling sweet, we're reeling through the midnight streets And I've never felt more alone, feels so scary getting old This dream isn't feeling sweet, we're reeling through the ...

Concept Development of Ribs

Image
Ribs is the kind of song reflecting ray of emotions between two bestfriends separated by the circumstances of growing age. We are planning to have a montage type of music video, where the memories of the bestfriends are condensed  in flashbacks the main lead thinks about. There were two ideas  that we were planning to execute one was the idea of two friends separated because of one moved out of college. Now that music video had difficult mis en scene to create like showing dorms, college and planes etc. For students like us it would not be practical to shoot such scenes The second idea these friends separated by distance and one of them is sad and misses the another one at every corner of her. It is more like a performance video than a narrative based video. We are more inclined to the second idea as it would have enough margin for  the performance , the creativity factor can be looked  more onto in this plan.

Shortlisting songs for My Music Video

Image
Me and Aiman shortlisted  3 songs for our music : CRADELS  by Sub-Urban: Our idea for cradles revolved around a depressed guy with the melancholic effect of sadness juxtaposed with the pleasant piano beat. It would be most probably an artistic video where a pinch of narrative would revolve around the protagonist who is a kleptomaniac and in the entire music video tries to fight his urge to steal and when he fails in this internal war against himself he falls into deep dungeons of guilt.   RIBS  by Lorde: Our idea for this music video would be about two best friends, where the protagonist leaves her hometown for college or due to some useless fight they depart. The protagonist misses her and feels how important she is in her life. The whole music video will revolve around the flashbacks, transitioning between the past and present creating an emotional appeal to the audience. The protagonist would also be shown doing a performance over the song as she is the arti...
